WEEK 2: Weebly Website Options
NESTING, RE-ORDERING, HIDING PAGES, & EXTERNALLY/INTERNALLY LINKING PAGES
Now that you have your own Weebly site we will begin to add text, images, video, audio, interactive and social media content.
Log in to your own Weebly site. Go to PAGES tab on your menu bar.. Select ADD BLOG at top of left side of PAGES page.
NESTING PAGES:
Did you know you can rearrange the order of pages and also "nest pages" so they fall under another page. Ok, what??? To see what "Nesting" means look at ASSIGNMENTS here on our site. Do you see how to the right of WEEK 1we see 3 individual pages listed? That is "nesting" The individual assignments are nested under the WEEK 1 page; WEEK 2 is aligned under WEEK 1.WEEK 2's assignments are nested under the WEEK 2 page. And all these pages are "nested" under the ASSIGNMENTS page. Whoa Nelly!!! What??!
You click on the title and hold down the mouse while you drag a title to the right to "nest" it under another page. Watch how you can move your page over to the right and under another page on the page list .
Ok, let's look at how the PAGES page for this site looks with pages indented.
Here is a screen shot, (an image of information on a computer screen), that shows how your page list looks when nested.

See how first I created an ASSIGNMENTS page; then a WEEK 1 page, dragging it a notch under the ASSIGNMENTS page. Then I made 3 more pages for the individual assignments and nested them under the WEEK 1 page.
RE-ORDERING PAGES:
You can also click and drag a title up or down to change its' order from top to bottom of a list.
Want your HOME page to be last on your menu bar, making it show up as the last button on the far right of your site menu? Ok, that is just wrong! Nobody puts their home page last on the menu.
But if you wanted to be stand out in a cyber crowd AND drive people crazy, you could by clicking on the the Home page title bar on your page list while holding down your mouse button and then dragging the title to the very end of the pages listed.
HIDING PAGES
Presto chango! With a click of a mouse you can hide a website page on your site by making it INVISIBLE. Ok, I told you this course was magic. Ok, I didn't because that would be corny. But, this IS a magic trick.
Click on the box next to "HIDE PAGE IN NAVIGATION MENU" option on your PAGES page. The box will turn blue when checked. In our example below, with Hide page in navigation menu checked, you would not see a "BLOG" tab to click on our site menu.

So how do you find your page later when you want to edit it with no menu option?
You go to PAGES, locate the page you hid on the list of pages on the left, click, then select EDIT PAGE if you need to add more info, or click on the checked box to the left of the HIDE PAGE IN NAVIGATION MENU option to uncheck it, making it visible on your menu.
Don't forget to PUBLISH when finally done making changes to your site.
